Alane Lim received her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University in 2019, and earned double degrees in chemistry and cognitive science from Johns Hopkins University in 2013. Her awards include a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship, and a Fulbright research scholarship to Germany.
writing. Alane has been trained in science writing at Northwestern University and creative writing at Johns Hopkins University. She holds a certificate in satire writing from The Second City. She has been published over 80 times in science writing, entertainment, journalism, and poetry, for publications including The Awl, Naturejobs, The Offing, and CAFE.
